Izturis leads Angels over White Sox 4-3

Maicer Izturis had three hits and drove in two runs Friday to help the Los Angeles Angels beat the Chicago White Sox 4-3.
The Angels have won three straight and seven games of their last nine.
Jered Weaver (4-0) allowed three runs on four hits to earn the win. Two of the runs were earned. The 2010 strikeout leader added four to his 2011 total and leads the majors with 31 this season.
Adam Dunn hit a two-run homer in the sixth inning, his second of the year.
Phil Humber (1-1) allowed four runs, two earned, over five innings for Chicago. He gave up six hits and struck out four.

MLB: Chi. White Sox 6, Oakland 5 (10 inn.)

CHICAGO, April 13 (UPI) — Alexi Ramirez smashed two homers Tuesday, including a game-winner in the 10th inning, propelling the Chicago White Sox to a 6-5 win over Oakland.

Ramirez blasted a long solo shot to the upper deck in left field with two out in the 10th off Bobby Cramer (0-1), handing the White Sox their fourth win in five games.

The Chicago shortstop hit a three-run homer in the second inning and ended the night 2-for-4 with four RBI, three runs scored and a walk.

Juan Pierre added an RBI single and Chris Sale (2-0) earned the victory with two innings of scoreless relief.

Oakland starter Trevor Cahill was touched for four runs on six hits over 4 2/3 innings.

Kevin Kouzmanoff connected for a two-run homer and Hideki Matsui went 3-for-5 with two RBI for the A’s.

Surprise, AZ (Sports Network) – Brayan Pena belted a two-run homer in the second inning as the Royals topped the White Sox, 3-2, in Cactus League play.

Jeff Francoeur added a sacrifice fly later in the second, while starter Bruce Chen went five innings, allowing one run on four hits and struck out four.

Adam Dunn slugged a solo shot in the first and Danny Lucy knocked in the other run for Chicago, which got five innings from Brandon Hynick. He allowed all three runs on seven hits and struck out three.

Lincecum whiffs 7 as Giants beat White Sox 5-3

GLENDALE, Ariz. (AP)—Tim Lincecum(notes) struck out seven in 5 1-3 innings to help the San Francisco Giants to a 5-3 win over the Chicago White Sox on Wednesday.

The right-hander allowed one run on three hits and walked three to lead the defending World Series champions.

San Francisco’s six through nine hitters combined for 10 of the team’s 15 hits and drove in all five runs. Brandon Belt(notes) had three hits, including a solo home run.

Mark Buehrle(notes) started for the White Sox, allowing one run on seven hits over five innings. He had allowed eight runs in six innings over his last two starts.

Alex Rios(notes) tripled in a run for the White Sox in the second inning and Brent Lillibridge(notes) hit a two-run homer in the seventh.

Spring Training – White Sox drop Dodgers

GLENDALE, Ariz. (AP) – John Danks pitched five scoreless innings, Omar Vizquel hit a two-run homer and the Chicago White Sox beat a Los Angeles Dodgers split-squad 6-1 on Sunday.

Danks allowed just one hit, struck out two and walked three in the longest outing for a White Sox pitcher this spring.

Dodgers closer Jonathon Broxton, who struggled late last season, tossed a scoreless inning in his first appearance since he was shelled Thursday in a loss to the San Diego Padres.

Vizquel went deep and Lastings Milledge had a sacrifice fly in Chicago’s three-run fourth inning.

Cubs top White Sox in Spring Training

Ryan Dempster threw five shutout innings Friday as the Chicago Cubs beat the Chicago White Sox 4-3.

Dempster struck out six, including the last four he faced. He gave up two hits, a walk and hit a batter.

Cubs newcomer Carlos Pena hit his first homer of the spring, connecting in the second off Mark Buehrle. Pena hit an RBI single off Buehrle in the third.

Buehrle gave up six hits and three runs in three innings. He has given up eight runs and 15 hits in his last two starts.

Jeff Baker and Geovany Soto each had two hits or the Cubs.

Lastings Milledge hit a two-run homer in the ninth inning for the White Sox.
