CHICAGO, June 9 (UPI) — Adam Dunn and Paul Konerko each had a two-run homer Thursday and the Chicago White Sox piled up 15 hits in rolling over Oakland 9-4.

The Athletics, who changed managers earlier in the day, lost their 10th straight game.

Bob Geren became a victim of the Oakland losing streak when he was fired as manager. Bob Melvin took over on an interim basis.

Chicago took control with three runs in both the second and third innings to grab a 6-1 lead. Alexei Ramirez had an RBI in both frames and Dunn hit his home run in the third.

Konerko’s homer, his 15th, finished off a three-run eighth.

Mark Buehrle (6-4) grabbed the win, allowing three runs on seven hits in seven innings with four strikeouts.

Trevor Cahill (6-4) surrendered six runs on eight hits in just 2 2/3 innings to take the loss. Cahill is winless in his last six starts.

Not much else going on in the MLB planet today.

CHICAGO, June 5 (UPI) — Miguel Cabrera pounded a two-run homer in the ninth inning Saturday, breaking a tie and sending the Detroit Tigers to a 4-2 win over the Chicago White Sox.

Austin Jackson led off the ninth with a triple off Jesse Crain (2-2) and two outs later Cabrera socked a pitch over the right field fence for his 12th homer of the year as the Tigers evened their three-game series with Chicago.

Justin Verlander (6-3) held the White Sox to two runs over eight innings, logging his seventh straight start without a loss. He scattered seven hits and a walk while fanning seven.

Jose Valverde racked up his 15th save with a 1-2-3 ninth.

Brennan Boesch also went deep for the Tigers.

White Sox starter Edwin Jackson went six innings, allowing seven hits and a pair of runs.

Gordon Beckham hit a two-run homer for the Chisox.

TORONTO, May 28 (UPI) — Corey Patterson homered in the bottom of the 14th inning Saturday, handing the Toronto Blue Jays a 9-8 victory over the Chicago White Sox.

Patterson, the first man up in the frame, lined a 1-2 pitch from Gavin Floyd (5-5) into the right field seats, handing the Blue Jays a walk-off win in the third of a four-game series against the Chisox.

Patterson finished the game 5-for-7 with four runs scored and Jose Bautista socked a three-run homer among his three hits and two walks for the Blue Jays, who beat Chicago for the 16th time in 20 games at Rogers Center.

Rookie left-hander Luis Perez (1-0) earned his first major league win, hurling 3 2/3 scoreless innings.

The White Sox tied the game in the top of ninth on Paul Konerko’s bloop RBI double.

Konerko finished 2-for-3, Brent Lillibridge cracked a two-run homer and A.J. Pierzynski drove in a pair of runs for Chicago.

CHICAGO, May 2 (UPI) — Paul Konerko smacked a pair of home runs Monday and the Chicago White Sox broke a five-game losing streak with a 6-2 victory over Baltimore.

Konerko put the White Sox up 2-0 with a solo shot in the fourth inning, added a sacrifice fly in the sixth for a 3-0 lead and launched a two-run clout in the eighth for a total of four RBI.

Alex Rios chipped in with a bases-empty homer for Chicago, which avoided a four-game sweep at the hands of the Orioles.

Mark Buehrle (2-3) hurled 6 2/3 shutout innings despite allowing eight hits and four walks. He was aided by a pair of double plays.

Sergio Santos was called in to pick up his third save after Chris Sale allowed a two-run homer to Derrek Lee in the ninth inning.

Lee finished with three hits and Adam Jones went 3-for-5 for Baltimore.

CHICAGO, April 13 (UPI) — Alexi Ramirez smashed two homers Tuesday, including a game-winner in the 10th inning, propelling the Chicago White Sox to a 6-5 win over Oakland.

Ramirez blasted a long solo shot to the upper deck in left field with two out in the 10th off Bobby Cramer (0-1), handing the White Sox their fourth win in five games.

The Chicago shortstop hit a three-run homer in the second inning and ended the night 2-for-4 with four RBI, three runs scored and a walk.

Juan Pierre added an RBI single and Chris Sale (2-0) earned the victory with two innings of scoreless relief.

Oakland starter Trevor Cahill was touched for four runs on six hits over 4 2/3 innings.

Kevin Kouzmanoff connected for a two-run homer and Hideki Matsui went 3-for-5 with two RBI for the A’s.

Surprise, AZ (Sports Network) – Brayan Pena belted a two-run homer in the second inning as the Royals topped the White Sox, 3-2, in Cactus League play.

Jeff Francoeur added a sacrifice fly later in the second, while starter Bruce Chen went five innings, allowing one run on four hits and struck out four.

Adam Dunn slugged a solo shot in the first and Danny Lucy knocked in the other run for Chicago, which got five innings from Brandon Hynick. He allowed all three runs on seven hits and struck out three.

The right-hander allowed one run on three hits and walked three to lead the defending World Series champions.

San Francisco’s six through nine hitters combined for 10 of the team’s 15 hits and drove in all five runs. Brandon Belt(notes) had three hits, including a solo home run.

Mark Buehrle(notes) started for the White Sox, allowing one run on seven hits over five innings. He had allowed eight runs in six innings over his last two starts.

Alex Rios(notes) tripled in a run for the White Sox in the second inning and Brent Lillibridge(notes) hit a two-run homer in the seventh.

GLENDALE, Ariz. (AP) – John Danks pitched five scoreless innings, Omar Vizquel hit a two-run homer and the Chicago White Sox beat a Los Angeles Dodgers split-squad 6-1 on Sunday.

Danks allowed just one hit, struck out two and walked three in the longest outing for a White Sox pitcher this spring.

Dodgers closer Jonathon Broxton, who struggled late last season, tossed a scoreless inning in his first appearance since he was shelled Thursday in a loss to the San Diego Padres.

Vizquel went deep and Lastings Milledge had a sacrifice fly in Chicago’s three-run fourth inning.

GLENDALE, Ariz. – Gordon Beckham and Dayan Viciedo had three hits each, and the Chicago White Sox beat a Colorado Rockies’ split squad 9-8 Tuesday.

Tyler Flowers hit a solo home run for the White Sox, who had 17 hits and went 8-for-14 with runners in scoring position.

White Sox starter John Danks walked three in 3 1-3 innings, raising his spring training total to five in 5 1-3 innings. He gave up two runs and five hits.

Dexter Fowler and Ben Paulsen each had two hits, and each had a standup triple. Ty Wigginton hit a two-run homer in the fourth, and Michael McKenry had a solo homer in the ninth.
