| Freddy Garcia Wants to Join the Yankees, Rather than Return to the White Sox | |
Another journeyman starter could be on his way to the Bronx as spring training nears. Rather than returning to the Chicago White Sox, Freddy Garcia reportedly wishes to play for the New York Yankees this upcoming season. “My preference is to be with the New York Yankees, and it’s not unreasonable to have that in mind, because I’ve demonstrated that I can be useful,” Garcia said, according to the Venezuelan paper, Meridiano. “A team like New York would be ideal for my age, [as would ] playing in a successful, media-heavy, demanding division. Without doubt it would be an inspiration.” The Yankees are definitely in need of starting pitching, especially a number five starter, and Garcia could certainly serve in that role. Last year, Garcia had a 12-6 record with a 4.64 ERA and 157.0 innings pitched in his first full, healthy season since 2006. However, he has not been impressive since his 2001 season, in which he had an 18-6 record with a 3.05 ERA for the Seattle Mariners. Subscribe to our feed!. Posted in white-sox-news | Comments Off
