December 31, 2010 – Golden Baseball League (GBL) Orange County Flyers
“Being a part of the Flyers and the Golden Baseball League for the last four years has been an amazing experience,” said Feldman. “Much like the players in the GBL who strive to reach affiliated ball, I have been working toward a similar goal. When the Intimidators offered me the position as their Director of Broadcasting and Media Relations, it was an opportunity I couldn’t pass up. I’ve made so many great friends in my time in the GBL, and those are relationships I will always treasure.” Feldman, who turns 26 in January, first joined the Flyers in 2007 as the team’s on-field MC after graduating from USC with a degree in broadcast journalism. He joined the GBL’s Long Beach Armada the following season and served as the team’s on-field host and road-game broadcaster for two years before returning to the Orange County organization in January 2010. He created the first ever media guides for the Armada and the Flyers, as well as handling media relations for players such as Jose Lima, Hideki Irabu, Byung-Hyun Kim and Mark Prior. The Texas native leaves the Los Angeles area after spending most of the last eight years in Southern California. He will start with the Kannapolis Intimidators, located 30 miles north of Charlotte in North Carolina, in mid-January. “We’re very happy for Josh to get the chance to move up to the next level,” said Bob Young, Managing Member of the Flyers. “He has been such a versatile member of our organization as well as a lot of fun to listen to in the booth. We want to thank Josh for his hard work and dedication to the Flyers, and we wish him the best of luck in Kannapolis. Our ultimate goal is to quickly see all our personnel in the major league system, from players, to coaches, to front office staff, and our broadcasters just like Josh.” Josh specifically noted that any fans who would like to keep in contact with him can reach him at joshbfeldman@gmail.com” because “My inbox is always open for our fans.” • Discuss this story on the Golden Baseball League message board… The opinions expressed in this release are those of the organization issuing it, and do not necessarily reflect the thoughts or opinions of OurSports Central or its staff.

| Oney Guillen’s Twitter Rant About Bobby Jenks Upsets White Sox GM Ken Williams | |
According to ESPN.com, White Sox GM Ken Williams is not happy about Oney Guillen‘s recent twitter rant calling out Red Sox reliever Bobby Jenks. Oney is the son of White Sox manager, Ozzie Guillen. Williams wrote a concerned e-mail to the Chicago Tribune, saying that Oney’s tweets may have compromised the integrity of the White Sox’ clubhouse. Williams is upset because the tweets publicized private conversations between Jenks and Ozzie. “It is an issue I trust Ozzie to manage as there are obvious peripheral issues that are in direct conflict to what we believe and could directly compromise the integrity of clubhouse privacy, privacy that is vital to a team’s unity and success,” Williams’ e-mail read. On the other side of the controversy, Williams is also asking Jenks to apologize to the White Sox’ organization. Oney’s Twitter rant was sparked when Jenks said he was looking forward to playing “for a manager who knows how to run a bullpen,” in Boston. Williams went on to say that Chicago was nothing but supportive of Jenks throughout his six-year stint with the White Sox. On Thursday, Oney told ESPN’s “Waddle and Silvy Show” that his tweets, which exposed Jenks’ alleged drinking and marital problems, will not affect the White Sox in 2011. Updated: December 30, 2010, 4:54 PM ET Chicago White Sox general manager Ken Williams said Oney Guillen’s recent shots at Bobby Jenks via Twitter may have compromised the integrity of the White Sox clubhouse, because it publicized apparent private communication between Jenks and White Sox manager Ozzie Guillen. Oney Guillen on ESPN 1000Oney Guillen joined “The Afternoon Saloon” to discuss the tweets he made in response to former White Sox closer Bobby Jenks, who criticized former manager Ozzie Guillen. Williams also told the Trib that Jenks, who signed with the Boston Red Sox after spending his first six seasons in Chicago, owes Ozzie Guillen an apology for saying he’s looking forward to playing “for a manager who knows how to run a bullpen.” Williams said the White Sox supported Jenks throughout his career in Chicago. Oney Guillen took it a step further when he tweeted that Jenks is a “punk,” and that Jenks should: “be a man and tell the manager or the coaching staff how u feel or the organization when u were with the sox not when u leave.” Oney Guillen also tweeted that Jenks “cried in the managers office bc u have problems now u go and talk bad about the sox after they protected u for 7 years ungrateful.” ESPNChicago.com White Sox blog
Williams and Ozzie Guillen suffered through a tumultuous 2010 season. Both men said the personal rift didn’t affect their professional relationship, but team captain Paul Konerko — who re-signed with the White Sox — recently told “The Afternoon Saloon” on ESPN 1000 that highly publicized disputes can be a distraction, and it takes a team’s total concentration to win a division. Oney Guillen told ESPN 1000′s “Waddle & Silvy Show” on Wednesday that the recent Twitter flap won’t affect the team in 2011, and that no current White Sox players need to fear his Twitter wrath. Efforts to reach Ozzie Guillen on Thursday were unsuccessful. ESPNChicago.com baseball reporter Bruce Levine and The Associated Press contributed to this story.

| White Sox will let Ozzie Guillen handle Jenks situation | |
In response to the ongoing feud between former White Sox closer Bobby Jenks and Oney Guillen, the son of White Sox manager Ozzie Guillen, White Sox general manager Ken Williams told the Chicago Tribune that he expects Ozzie Guillen to handle the matter.
“It is an issue I trust Ozzie to manage as there are obvious peripheral issues that are in direct conflict to what we believe and could directly compromise the integrity of clubhouse privacy, privacy that is vital to a team’s unity and success,” Williams told the Chicago Tribune via e-mail. The controversy began when Jenks, who spent the first six seasons of his major league career with the White Sox, made some unflattering remarks about Ozzie Guillen and the White Sox in an interview with MLB.com. “I’m looking forward to playing for a manager who knows how to run a bullpen,” Jenks told MLB.com, referring to new manager Terry Francona. Jenks recently signed a two-year deal with the Red Sox. That jab didn’t sit well with Oney Guillen, who berated Jenks via Twitter. Among the accusations Oney Guillen made were that Jenks has an alcohol problem, has marital problems and once punched a clubhouse attendant in the face in Arizona. “The reason I got so mad about what Bobby said was he is basically saying my dad is a (expletive) manager,” Oney told the Chicago Sun-Times and 670 AM radio. “Sorry, but no one knows what will happen with the Sox this year, and who knows how a statement like that could affect my dad’s future. That’s my dad. If anyone heard someone talking (stuff) about their dad, and it was stuff that wasn’t true or stuff from a guy that their dad did a lot for the past six or seven years, how would they react?” Among Jenks’ other complaints were that the White Sox’s clubhouse was filled with negativity and that he wasn’t appreciated. “Not only do I disagree with Bobby’s assessments, I condemn them for being non-factual and the reckless spirit they represent,” Williams told the Chicago Tribune. “The White Sox organization appreciates Bobby’s efforts while he was here, and we wish him well. But if he pauses to reflect on the many hours of conversation and examples of support we have shown over the years, it is my hope he realizes he owes Ozzie Guillen an apology.”

| Son of White Sox manager slams Red Sox’s Jenks | |
CHICAGO — One of Ozzie Guillen’s sons is firing back at former White Sox closer Bobby Jenks for comments made about the Chicago manager. Jenks, who signed a two-year deal with Boston last week, expressed disappointment to MLB.com that the White Sox decided not to re-sign him. He told the website he was “looking forward to playing for a manager who knows how to run a bullpen.” Oney Guillen called Jenks a “punk” in a series of Twitter posts. In one, he wrote that Jenks should “be a man and tell the manager or the coaching staff how u feel or the organization when u were with the sox not when u leave.” In another, he wrote that Jenks “cried in the managers office bc u have problems now u go and talk bad about the sox after they protected u for 7 years ungrateful.” Oney Guillen resigned from his job in the scouting department in March after the organization took exception to some of his tweets. He previously posted critical comments of White Sox general manager Ken Williams. The White Sox distanced themselves from Oney Guillen’s latest comments, saying he is “not a member of the White Sox organization, and in no way does he speak for the Chicago White Sox.” If you like reading our blog, remember to bookmark it.
